Book Description

Microsoft Word spell checker was used to calculate the Flesh-Kincaid Grade Level and word count on only the main body of text of these books. Introductions, copyright notices, author information, etc. were all ignored in these calculations. Picture books and "easy readers" usually will not have these statistics.

The interest level was determined arbitrarily. Our adult readers found all of these stories to be of high interest. The 10 to adult books are typically written specifically for older readers and sometimes have more mature topics than other books.

In the list below the first number in parenthesis is the reading grade level; the second set of numbers is the presumed school grade interest level; and the third is the word count of the main body of the text.  At the end of each book there are complete statistics provided by Microsoft Word spell check. There are some books that have a very low reading level such as 0.0. This is obviously wrong and a quirk of Microsoft Word Spell Checker. Consider these books simply having a very low reading level.
